LAWIN donates international legal publications to the Riga Graduate School of Law

In honour of the 93rd anniversary of the proclamation of the independence of Latvia, the  LAWIN Riga office has donated  two international legal publications to the Riga Graduate School of Law (RGSL).

On November 21, the author of the Latvia chapters for those publications, LAWIN senior associate Māris Brizgo and partner Raimonds Slaidiņš made a presentation to students and professors of RGSL, followed by an informal question and answer session. More information is here

About the publications:

  • „European Cross Border Insolvency” (Allen & Overy, 2011). This highly practical guide reviews European cross-border insolvency procedures in each European country via a country-by-country approach. It is the only publication on the market to deal with the practical aspects of cross-border insolvencies following introduction of the EC Regulation. Published in a looseleaf form, it allows for annual updating. The publication is initiated and managed by Allen & Overy - the leading law firm in the area of insolvency, with other leading law firms providing insolvency law reviews for their countries.
  •  „Cross-Border Mergers in Europe” (Cambridge University Press, 2011). This publication reviews the Cross-Border Merger Directive and its implementing legislation in each Member State of the European Union and the European Economic Area, providing  useful insight into the legal framework applicable to, and the tax treatment of, cross-border mergers throughout the European Economic Area. The country chapters on the implementing legislation in each Member State are contributed by practitioners from each state.

Riga Graduate School of Law (RGSL) is a leading law school in the Baltic region, founded in 1998 by Sweden, Latvia and the Soros Foundation. LAWIN is proud to be the long-term supporter of RGSL, including regular lecturing  at the school and having developed a Mergers and Acquisitions course at both the bachelors and masters levels.
