Advising Visagino Atomine Elektrine on the establishment and development of a new nuclear power plant
Advising Visagino Atomine Elektrine (a company arranging preparatory works for development of a new nuclear power plant planned as a joint venture between the Baltic States and Poland) on the establishment and development of a new nuclear power plant in Lithuania and interconnector projects with Sweden and Poland. This is one of the largest and most significant projects in the Baltic States, including preparation of feasibility study on nuclear regulatory and licensing issues pertaining to design, construction, financing, commissioning, operation and decommissioning of a new nuclear power plant in Lithuania; the study also included matters related to expropriation of land, analysis of the best possible forms of land use, territorial planning and zoning issues as well as the environmental aspects of the new nuclear power plant (among them environmental impact assessments, management and disposal of radioactive waste) and further advice on legal and regulatory frameworks in Lithuania and European Union. Forecasted values approx. EUR 12.5–15 billion in aggregate.
