LAWIN advised Japan Tobacco International in restructuring of its distribution model in Latvia
LAWIN advised Japan Tobacco International in the successful restructuring of its tobacco distribution model in Latvia. In implementation of the new model LAWIN assisted the client in the sale of its local subsidiary to Sanitex group, obtaining anti-trust clearance from the competition authorities and negotiating a new contractual framework for distribution of its products by Sanitex.
The LAWIN legal team included Industry & Regulatory practice group’s associates Sarmis Spilbergs, Martins Gailis, and partner Liga Merwin.
Japan Tobacco International is one of the largest tobacco product manufacturers in the world, with a global market share of almost 10%. Sanitex is one of the largest consumer goods wholesale, distribution, and logistics companies in the Baltics.
