LAWIN advises on acquisition of leading Baltic cinema operators

All three LAWIN offices (Riga, Tallinn, Vilnius) advised the purchaser in the acquisition of the largest movie theater operating companies in the Baltic States.  The purchaser, Ratos, a Swedish listed private equity firm, acquired Finnkino Oy, a Finnish movie theater group from the media group Sanoma, by which it also acquired control of Forum Cinemas AS (Estonia), Forum Cinemas SIA (Latvia) and Forum Cinemas UAB (Lithuania), and a 37% stake in a Latvian real estate holding company (SIA Stockmann Centrs). The deal has a value of EUR 116 million. LAWIN acted as the Baltic counsel for the purchaser in connection with the acquisition and relating financing transaction (including due diligence and establishing financing security).

The LAWIN team included Marina Tolmatshova, Elo Tamm and Triinu Hiob in Estonia, Ivars Slokenbergs, Martins Gailis and Anna Misneva in Latvia, and Sandra Prichozaj, Lina Radaviciene and Ruta Besusparyte in Lithuania.
