LAWIN Flag Set up on North America’s Highest Mountain

26.06.2011 \ Lithuania \ News

From now on the end of May is a prominent date in the history of LAWIN. Every member of the firm might declare he has been to Alaska, seen its gorgeous landscapes, and,  the most important, climbed the highest mountain in North America, Denali (6194 m). The freedom to say so might arise from the fact that the flag uniting all Baltic offices and their teams was set up on the peak of Denali.

The amazing journey started on 17 May, when Tomas Milašauskas, a Partner and the Head of the Lithuanian Real Estate and Environmental practice group, took a fly to Alaska. Accompanied by other 9 fearless Lithuanians, he set up his staff in Talkeetna town. There the “tourists” found out that the basic camp, which was to become the start of the great climbing, was closed due to awful weather conditions. Moreover, having packed their equipment before being aware of such news, the climbers were to wait a whole night for an aircraft to fly them to the start.

The following day greeted Lithuanians with more comfortable conditions to begin the challenge which was to end on 29 May. However, the severe winds and frost made them a little late. The well-organized team decided not to hurry, as they knew the trip was too risky. Denali and its snows have already taken some lives of Italian and Swiss alpinists this year.

Fortunately, Tomas Milašauskas together with his companions succeeded in reaching the peak of mountain Denali (also called mountain McKinley) and let LAWIN flag wave in Alaska’s winds.
Interestingly, Denali in Indian is called “The High One”. Ultimately, LAWIN has hit it like it always does.
