LAWIN partner Liga Merwin participated in the Annual European Pro Bono forum
LAWIN is proud to support a ProBono Clearing House development initiative in Latvia which is formed as a special program at Partners in Ideas Fund and supported by the Soros Foundation Latvia. Under this cooperation, LAWIN partner Liga Merwin was invited to attend The Public Interest Law Institute's annual European Pro Bono Forum, which took place in Paris on 18-19 November 2010, and is considered the only platform of its kind providing an international comparative perspective on pro bono practice in Europe.
The European Pro Bono Forum offers meaningful opportunities for experienced pro bono practitioners to engage in new initiatives focused on combating poverty and social exclusion as well as human rights and environmental protection, high-impact projects and cross-border partnerships. This year, a Forum participant list consisted of more than 200 lawyers, NGO representatives and academics from throughout Europe and beyond. With many workshops and three possible streams, the participants had an opportunity to customize their Forum experience according to their interests and expertise.
More information on the Forum is available here.
The lawyers at LAWIN and the law firm itself actively support the concept of corporate social responsibility (CSR). CSR is one of the benchmarks of our strategy and our lawyers donate their time for pro bono services to law schools, non-profit foundations and other worthy causes.
