LAWIN welcomed David Wilkins, a Professor of Law at Harvard Law School, to Lithuania. Professor David Wilkins, who was LAWIN’s guest on November 7-10, is one of the world’s most celebrated legal scholars and serves as Vice Dean for Global Initiatives on the Legal Profession, the Lester Kissel Professor of Law, and the Faculty Director of the Program on the Legal Profession at Harvard Law School. This unique program provides a significant contribution to the modern practice of law by increasing understanding of the structures, norms and dynamics of the global legal profession. Michele Obama, first lady of the United States of America, is among the alumni of Prof. David Wilkins.

Prof. David Wilkins arrived in Lithuania to visit LAWIN to give a two-day seminar to the partners and lawyers of the law firm on modern leadership, trends in law firms, and the changing role of the legal profession. At the request of LAWIN, Prof. David Wilkins gave a public lecture - The Future of the Legal Profession - for faculty and students of law at Vilnius University and LAWIN alumni. He also had the opportunity to meet with LAWIN client representatives at a special event.

“Professor David Wilkins is an erudite person and a very charismatic lecturer. He was among the first professors to develop a new academic subject - Lawyers’ Career Study. We are proud we have the chance to provide an opportunity to Vilnius University faculty and students, LAWIN clients and our own people to communicate with Prof. David Wilkins during his visit to Lithuania. We believe that this influx of ideas from one of the world’s best law schools – Harvard – will be extremely useful and will stimulate perfection”, – said Andrius Smaliukas, partner at LAWIN. He and Rolandas Valiunas, Managing Partner at LAWIN Vilnius, were fortunate to attend lectures of this renowned professor when visiting Harvard.

Professor David Wilkins is a frequent speaker at academic institutions and conferences, bar organizations, and law firms and other professional service organizations in the United States and around the world. He has received numerous honours and awards, has written many articles, has given more than 200 interviews on topical legal issues and has published a number of textbooks.
